   License and Certification Qualifications: Georgia certification at the S-5 Level or Non-Renewable School Counseling certificate required.

Education Qualifications: Master\'s degree in related field required.

Experience Qualifications: Previous counseling experience preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of basic counseling skills, management, and leadership; ability to work with individuals, small groups, classroom groups, and collaboratively with stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively; demonstrated skills in oral and written communication; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide support and leadership in delivering comprehensive counseling pertaining to academics, career, and life skill concerns, coordinating guidance related programs and activities, and consulting with appropriate adults.

1. Provide programknowledge to students.
a. Demonstrate command of material and program.
b. Utilize district\'s standards and competenciesin comprehensive guidance program planning.

2. Oversee counseling program management.
a. Implement and assist in implementing a comprehensive,data-driven, school-based written guidance plan in accordance with thedistrict\'s 21st century comprehensive counseling framework.
b. Coordinate with school staff to provide supportiveinstructional classroom activities that relate to student educational careergoals and personal needs.
c. Ensure students receive appropriate career(i.e. educational or occupational) development assistance.
d. Conduct individual and group counseling withstudents in areas of educational, career, or personal needs.
e. Analyze student achievement results as partof a comprehensive program to provide academic counseling.
f. Consult with school staff, parents, andcommunity resources on student problems and concerns as needed or requested.

3. Maintain professional growth in counselingand guidance arenas.
a. Attend and participate in faculty and districtlevel meetings and other staff development, in addition to professionalgrowth activities as needed and/or supported by the principal.
b. Apply newly acquired knowledge and skillsin planning and implementing a developmental guidance program.

4. Oversee professional responsibilities byworking cooperatively with school administrators, other support personnel,teachers, staff, and parents.
a. Model correct use of oral and written language.
b. Demonstrate accurate and up-to-date knowledgeof content.
c. Interact in a professional manner with students,parents, and staff.
d. Facilitate home-school-community communicationby such means as holding conferences and sending written communications.
e. Maintain confidentiality of students andstudent records.
f. Provide crisis counseling as appropriatewhen needed.
g. Demonstrate punctuality, maintain regularattendance, and make necessary arrangements for absences.
h. Conduct guidance and counseling activitiesat the times scheduled.
i. Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriaterecords and file reports promptly.
j. Attend and participate in faculty meetingsand other assigned meetings and activities.
k. Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines and professionalstandards of the profession.

5. Maintain a positive culture to support studentachievement.
a. Demonstrate belief in the capacity of allstudents to be successful.
b. Demonstrate effective oral and written communicationskills.
c. Assist learners to develop goals and strategiesto meet their potential.
d. Encourage positive home and school communications.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
