Required:
- Current School Counselor endorsement on a valid Colorado License.

- Demonstrated knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and child protection procedures, as well as ALP, 504, SST, and Special Education Referral process.

- Knowledge and experience with academic advising, registration and scheduling.

- Experience and willingness to implement programs related to the career and academic domains of the Jeffco Counseling Comprehensive Guidance Program.

- Excellent communication skills in order to facilitate communication with all members of the community, special ed. team members, classroom teachers, students, parents and administrators.

- Demonstrated ability in providing differentiation, interventions and extensions for students.

- Effective collaboration with teammates.

- Demonstrated commitment to team work and systemic programs.

Job Description
Pomona High School is seeking a full time counselor with experience working with a wide variety of student and family demographics. This counselor should value a team approach to counseling and take personal responsibility for meeting the developmental needs of all students. He/She should embrace professional collaboration as the norm where student centered success is highly valued. The person hired for this position will work closely with the entire Pomona staff as well as the larger Pomona community to achieve this vision.

Pre-Screening Standards:
1. Candidate must have a Master's Degree in School Counseling.
2. Must hold, or qualify to have a valid Colorado Secondary Counseling License.
3. High school counseling experience is required.
4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with other department members and staff in a positive collegial relationship to promote a productive work environment as evidenced by current program/professional evaluation and letters of recommendation.

2. Training and experience with Response to Intervention implementation and support
3. Ability to work and function optimally in a fast-paced and multitasking environment
4. Exhibit the characteristics of a creative, proactive, self-starter with a good sense of humor and a strong, traditional work ethic
5. Maintain a positive working relationship with counseling and administrative team
6. Maintain quality verbal and written communication with students, staff and parents
7. 504 knowledge, coordination and implementation
8. Documented experience or extensive knowledge in the following areas:
a. Working with diverse populations
b. Academic advising graduation requirements, transcript evaluation
c. Post-secondary advisement
d. Career advisement, interest inventories and computerized career guidance systems
e. Personal and social counseling which includes but is not limited to knowledge of community resources and the ability to provide conflict mediation
f. Test administration experience in some of the following areas: SAT, EXPLORE, PLAN, PSAT, ACT PREP and AP
g. Middle School to High School Transition
h. Experience with guiding students in credit recovery options
i. Knowledge of Warren Tech programs
j. Have experience with ICAP implementation
9. Desire to serve on school-wide committees
10. Ability to present accurate information to large groups of students, faculty and community members
11. Program development and implementation experience, including research and data collection
12. Proficient in the use of current technology. This includes, but is not limited to, Infinite Campus, Naviance, Word, Excel and Power Point

Specific assignments and duties will be discussed with the principal and counseling team.
