JOB OVERVIEW:

Boston Public Schools serves 56,000 children in 125 schools. We fundamentally believe that schools are the unit of change where our school leadership teams and educators create rigorous, supportive, and safe environments for every child to reach their full potential. Our work as a district is to ensure this is possible at every one of our schools.

The Boston Public Schools has set ambitious goals to ensure that every child -- in every school and in every neighborhood -- has access to a world-class learning experience from birth, resulting in graduation from high school, ready for success in college, career, and life. The Re-Engagement Center is a collaborative initiative with Boston's Private Industry Council, the City's Workforce Investment Board. The Re-engagement Center Director is responsible for setting each student up with the appropriate academic and/or social services offered by the Re-engagement Center. The Director is responsible for working with community partners to locate and engage out-of-school youth, establish linkages to neighborhood resources, oversee program implementation, and manage staff of the Re-engagement Center.

The Program offered at the Center ensures the successful transition and graduation of students who have either dropped out or who have not been effectively served in traditional school settings, and who desire to re-enroll in a program that will put them on a path to graduation. Students participating in the Program receive supports including online instruction, small group and individual counseling, and workforce and life skills training.
