Summer STEM for ALL Instructor
We are hiring certified K-12 teachers to conduct STEM activities at various locations from June 25 - August 3, 2018.

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The STEM for ALL Instructor will be responsible for facilitating STEM challenges to engage students across all grade levels in problem solving and critical thinking. The STEM Summer Teacher will report to the Office of Family and Community Partnership to plan and implement weekly STEM challenges at Poquonock Elementary School, Deerfield Apartments, Wilson Branch Library, Goslee Pool and the Town Green.

NOTE: Summer school personnel must be able to attend the orientation on June 21st and work the entire program time. No vacation or personal time will be granted. Hiring will take place in May and based on need.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend orientation on June 21, 2018.
2. Meet with Mr. Sills from the Office of Family and Community Partnership to plan STEM challenges.
3. Prepare all materials needed for the STEM activities.
4. Transport all needed materials and set up at different locations daily.
5. Facilitate a daily 1-hour STEM activity at various locations in Windsor (up to 10 hours weekly).
5. Keep record of number of students and grade levels that will be attending.
6. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Office of Family and Community Partnerships and/or Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning stylesKnowledge of elementary school curriculum and conceptsKnowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and studentsAbility to use computer network system and software applications as neededAbility to organize and coordinate workAbility to communicate effectively with students and parentsAbility to transport materials and/or pop-up tent to various locations in Windsor, e.g., public pool.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess Connecticut Teacher CertificationClean driving record, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle to drive to and from various locationsSatisfactory attendance/performance
Education
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment

  • Mr. Russell Sills, Office of Family and Community Partnership
