The purpose of this job is to be a liaison between the Superintendent, Board members, and other stakeholders, and to provide effective leadership for the assigned areas. In addition, this position will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Finance Division.
  • Oversees the financial operations of the school system.
  • Consults and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to ensure efficient school operations.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of operations and programs in assigned areas; identifies and implements improvements or enhancements.
  • Ensures compliance with district, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws for financial resources.
  • Oversees the management of all state and self-funded grants for compliance and usage.
  • Ensures all required state and federal reports are prepared and submitted within program guidelines.
  • Develops, monitors, recommends, and implements budget for assigned area.
  • Monitors the receipt, recording, and reporting of all revenue for assigned areas; monitors cash receipts, deposits, and electronic transfer of funds; coordinates the County Trustee's cash basis report by reviewing cash receipts, providing proper account codes, determining commissionable status, entering into computer, and verifying against requests for federal, state, and local requests.
  • Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards, and all other applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
  • Ensures cash flow controls and cash balance are appropriate to operate required school district operations.
  • Oversees internal audit administration and preparation and maintenance of school system financial records, budgets, audits, and other business/financial services.
  • Provides support and assistance to school principals and bookkeepers in maintaining school financial records

Supervises, directs, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates assigned staff.

Qualifications and Requirements :
Master?s degree with an emphasis on financial management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

A CPA and/or CIA license strongly preferred.

7 years of demonstrated executive level experience in fund based accounting to include finance, budgeting and payroll strongly preferred.

Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.

Must possess a valid state-issued driver?s license.
