K12 is seeking a Data Science Intern to join a fast-paced results-oriented Marketing Analytics team in Herndon office. The desired candidate will excel at problem solving and will be innovative, hard-working and enjoy working in a team environment.

We are looking for an intern to work with our Marketing Data Analytics team at our Herndon, VA office. Our internships are paid, full-time positions that offer you the chance to grow and receive meaningful work experience. We offer internship opportunities to current graduate-level students or recent graduates which run for 10 weeks during the summer from June 4 to Aug. 10.

The K12 Marketing Data Analytics team provides the data analytics strategy and delivers data analytic solutions across all K12 business lines. We are looking for a Data Science Intern to assist with the build out of our on demand business intelligence toolkit and identify insights from these tools. Your assignment will include developing building blocks for more granular understanding of advertising performance as well as mining data to help identify outlier events on operations.

Job Responsibilities
• Reporting to our data scientist to accomplish daily assignments. Tasks include:
• Developing code to manipulate data that will be used in the predictive model toolkit
• Creating or updating reports already existing in the toolkit, focused on:
o Media Mix Model Performance
o Expected enrollment performance under different operational scenarios
o Operational and marketing events
• Identifying insights from the reporting suites on daily basis
• The role will be involving in data collection, data manipulation, data visualization, model development and extraction of insights from models.
Requirements
Required Education/Experience
  • Currently enrolled in graduate program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, or new Masters graduate within the past 12 months.
  • Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Managerial Sciences, Computer Science, Math or Statistics majors preferred.
  • Other M.Sc. majors with a quantitative concentration also welcomed
  • Good understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts, excellent computing skill and a passion for learning data science is a must.
  • Exemplary problem solving skills and ability to take initiative
  • Proficiency in Excel and Pivot Tables
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of these technologies: R (or Python) and SQL
  • Data manipulation skills: joining, cleansing, imputation, and sampling
  • Familiarity with modeling techniques: multivariate regression, regularization, ARIMAX model, and Bayes
