RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide administrative support to ensure student safety/well-being. Maintain positive communication with staff, students, parents, and community.
  2. Coordinate management of mealtime program, attendance, evaluate eligibility requirements, collect monies, issue and inventory data cards. Maintain manual and computer records to ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
  3. Handle all collections and banking of monies; maintain accounts of financial activities and special events.
  4. Manage and coordinate confidential records, supplies, and equipment for principal, staff, and students to efficiently maintain a positive, professional office in the educational process.
  5. Provide a variety of customer service support tasks.
  6. Assist the Office Manager with all secretarial/clerical and related duties.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
  2. High school diploma; additional business/office education preferred.
  3. Two years of recent secretarial/clerical work experience. Experience in school office environment preferred.
  4. Accurately type 40 words per minute.
  5. Ability to work at cashier-type tasks.
  6. Ability to prepare accurate statistical reports.
  7. Ability to communicate orally and handle telephone inquiries.
  8. Excellent skills in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  9. Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of software programs such as Windows, which includes MS Word or WordPerfect, Powerpoint, Publisher or related software, IFAS, payroll software, Excel or spreadsheet software, Nutrition Services food program software, School Dude, and PowerSchool.
  10. Previous experience working with various database programs helpful.
  11. First aid card recommended (required within 90 days of employment).
  12. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  13. Demonstrated ability to relate and work positively and efficiently with a diverse group of students, staff, and community in a confidential manner.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  1. Work Schedule-Days and hours are subject to change depending on program and district needs.
  2. Benefits-Fringe benefits are provided for employees who work at least half-time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position. Stipends are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement as negotiated.
  3. Association Membership-Pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between Spokane Public Schools and the Union, a newly-elected employee must either become a member of the association, pay an equivalent representation fee, or based on bona fide religious objections, pay an equivalent amount to a nonreligious charity mutually agreed upon by the employee and the association.
  4. A fingerprint background check is required for all prospective employees prior to start date. A processing fee is payable by payroll deduction.
