Reports to: Instructional Technology Manager

This person is a key member of the Instructional Technology Team within the Technology Department serving as a department-specific resource for the use and integration of the school's instructional and administrative technology. The team encourages the meaningful use of tools and resources to support teaching and learning. This person supports the team's mission by providing leadership in the design and implementation of frameworks and guidelines, exercising initiative and independent judgement in performing duties and in staying current with information and procedures. They must work intentionally, be prepared and dependable while managing numerous interruptions, maintain a professional demeanor, and be exceptionally well organized.

Qualifications:
  • College degree in related field required; master's degree preferred
  • Software certifications preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working in customer service and user support; use and understanding of various types of hardware and software applications; user account management; audio/visual platforms; and a multi-platform network environment.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and distinctly with staff, outside agencies, and students.

  • Position Expectations:
  • Provides Tier II and III instructional technology technical support by:
  • Working with vendor technical support to resolve issues.
  • Gathering ongoing feedback on ebook usability and compatibility.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to test specialty software prior to deployment with the teacher and student perspective in mind.
  • Serves as a liaison between technology and specific departments by:
  • Facilitating communications on updates related to the use of instructional technology.
  • Participating in district committees to represent the interests of the Technology Department and the instructional technology team.
  • Manages department-specific technology resources by:
  • Creating an annual schedule for use of computer labs dedicated to specific courses.
  • Providing orientations and demonstrations for the utilization of technology resources.
  • Assisting with the evaluation process for recommending device accessories that support teaching and learning.
  • Supports the use of department specific instructional technologies by:
  • Designing and implementing a framework to create training materials and documentation using specialty software.
  • Helping teachers implement specialty, core, and instructional technologies.
  • Supports teachers and students in learning about instructional technology by:
  • Designing and implementing a framework to create custom training materials for the use of technology.
  • Designing and supporting personalized, and small and large group technology training for existing and new staff members.
  • Designing and delivering training for students.
  • Providing technical guidance during professional development events."
  • Delivering software feature/function demonstrations for staff.
  • Supports instructional technology research by:
  • Overseeing the life cycle of instructional technology pilots.
  • Assisting with evaluation efforts for piloting new instructional technologies.
  • Assessing and evaluating teaching & learning needs for integrating and implementing meaningful technology use in the classroom.
  • Exploring workflows that best support teaching and learning.
  • Assisting teachers with curricular-specific & core app evaluations and recommendations.
  • Coordinating and facilitating vendor demonstrations for the purpose of evaluating new solutions.
  • Contributing to the mission of the instructional technology team by:
  • Coordinating resources for student testing that requires the use of technology.
  • Contributing content to online resources.
  • Assisting cross-functional teams in coordinating materials and resources
  • Participating in and leading cross-training for department team members as needed.
  • Participating in cross-functional team and Instructional Technology team projects and initiatives
  • Serves as a guide for instructional design and delivery by:
  • Designing best practices for teaching with technology, aligned with ISTE and content standards.
  • Acquiring certifications and other credentials necessary to maintain content expertise.
  • Participating on the Technology Planning Committee to collaborate with other stakeholders in technology-related planning and prioritizing for the district.
  • Assisting teachers in connecting pedagogical practices and the role/purpose of technology in education.
  • Serves as a leader in the field of instructional technology by:
  • Attending and presenting at conferences in alignment with the goals set forth by the instructional technology team, the technology department, and the district.
  • Collaborating with sender school professional learning community to develop and deliver digital citizenship curriculum across the township.
  • Pursuing opportunities to self-education in the field of instructional and educational technology.
  • Demonstrates professional responsibility by:

  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicating with stakeholders frequently, accurately, and with professionalism.
  • Participating in and leading cross-training for User Support team members as needed.
  • Participating in cross-functional team and User Support team projects and initiatives.

  • Initiating improvements, making revisions and recommendations, and/or helping others do the same.
