    The Instructional Coach is responsible for ensuring the acceleration of every APS student, every day through the alignment and implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards, related curricula, summative and formative assessments, and effective teaching and learning in every APS classroom. Specific duties include: ensuring alignment and clear communication between standards, instructional models, curricula, and assessments; coaching Teaching Partners in K-5 classrooms; developing Teaching Partners’ skills in observation and feedback and data-driven instruction; accessing Curriculum Coordinators for content-specific needs; incorporating technology instructional practice into coaching and co-planning for instruction, including the instructional support for personalized learning; serving on P-20 Learning Community Support Teams; assisting Curriculum Coordinators in developing and delivering district-level professional learning for teachers and leaders; assisting Curriculum Coordinators in developing, implementing, and delivering building level, job-embedded professional learning; facilitating the qualification process for and supporting the function of Teaching Partners at the school site; leading in the implementation and support for curricular resources that support content instruction and classroom intervention strategies; facilitating Teaching Partner meetings; planning and participating in various District meetings; planning and facilitating new teacher on-boarding and induction activities; assisting with translation and/or communication using second language skills when possible.
    General Description:
    • Support school sites in the effective implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards, related curricula and assessments and effective instructional practices in all P-20 classrooms. Assist in development and implementation of content Instructional Models that align standards, assessments, and resources with 21st Century Skills. Support district-wide implementation through professional learning, monitoring, coaching and revising Models when appropriate. Build capacity of school leadership teams to plan and develop building level professional development. Plan and participate in site visits, leadership team meetings, in-services, group dialogues and grade level meetings.
    • In partnership with the assigned P-20 Support Team, assist principals and P-20 Learning Community Directors in monitoring achievement growth at schools; analyzing CMAS, PALS, interim and benchmark assessments and other content assessments; and monitoring the effectiveness of Teaching Partners through regular action planning, observations and dialogue.
    • Qualify, develop and support Teaching Partners to develop instructional leadership and capacity at school sites through planning and facilitating Teaching Partner meetings, providing individual coaching support with tiered dialogues and supporting the Teaching Partners' efforts in the development of professional learning activities and coaching behaviors at the school site.
    • Research best instructional practices and curriculum. Develop instructional plans, including content specific pacing guides, scope and sequence, and resources to ensure alignment with District and state standards. Develop and monitor digital resources that support effective and aligned instruction.
    • Plan and facilitate comprehensive district level professional learning for classroom educators and administrators, including Induction and content specific instructional practices. Evaluate effectiveness of professional learning through consistent processes that monitor quality and implementation.
    • Attend Director/Instructional Coordinator meetings, Division meetings, Superintendent meetings and principal meetings. Assist P-20 Learning Community Directors in the planning and facilitation of principal professional development meetings as needed.
    • Support all state initiatives such as READ Plan, Turnaround, School Readiness, assessment transitions etc.
    Education, Licensure and Experience:
    • Master's degree in curriculum or appropriate field preferred. Holds a Colorado teaching license or is currently eligible for one
    • A completed Human Resources file including transcripts, student teaching verification, previous work experience
    • 5 years of experience in classroom and leadership experience beyond the classroom.
    Endorsement Category: Teacher on Special Assignment Strategic Plan: The teacher shall identify the development needs of students, shall maintain a productive learning environment, and shall work collaboratively to support the priorities of the Strategic Plan. Condition of Employment: As a condition of employment, the individual selected for this position will be expected to complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first three years of employment.
