Data Management Intern

Location : This position is based out of IDEA's Headquarters offices in Weslaco, Texas.

The Data Management department provides services and support to IDEA Public Schools including, but not limited to:

• 1st and 2nd Level Help Desk support
• User management
• Maintaining data integrity
• Designing and maintaining custom web pages and
• Custom reporting within the Student Information System using SQL.

Data personnel have contact with various campus persons and many facets within the organization.

A Data Management Internship (DMI) offers valuable and dynamic skill-based experience and exposure to the operations of an information technology department in a high performing educational system. The Data Team is primarily focused with the successful maintenance and management of student data across the organization (currently 13,000 students). This is done through our Student Information System (SIS), PowerSchool; by learning and leveraging its substantial resources we provide technical support to our customer (teachers). This internship will provide the opportunity to learn the specific functions of data management and web development as well as gain valuable leadership and communication skills by assessing the needs of our users and thinking critically to achieve ambitious goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Web development experience is preferred.
• Mature, reliable, dependable individuals able to relate to a variety of persons.
• Ability to develop supportive relationships with clients while maintaining objectivity.
• Enrollment in computer science, Information technology, software engineering or related major.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to assimilate numerous details into cohesive solutions.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks, following through to completion with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• On-the-job training will be provided by trained staff.
• Ongoing supervision will be provided by an assigned staff person with consultation available from an immediate supervisor.
• Up to 20hrs per week; this is a paid internship
