Qualifications:
  1. A minimum of ten years successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision and/or administration.
  2. Graduate work beyond the Masters Degree with emphasis in pupil services, special education and administration.
  3. A valid New York State Certificate as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL).
  4. Strong communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and human relations skills.
  5. Administrative experiences in the areas of special education, student services, and information technology.
  6. Experience effectively working with parents, teachers and administrators.
  7. Philosophical compatibility with the stated mission and beliefs of the school district.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Is familiar with and contributes to the successful implementation of the District's Mission and Belief statements;
  2. Contributes significantly to school district planning and decision making consistent with the District's Mission and Belief Statements.
  3. Attends Board of Education meetings and prepares reports for the Board and other reports as the Superintendent may request.
  4. Administers and evaluates the District-wide K-12 Special Education program and Student Services program.
  5. Designs, implements, and ensures compliance relative to Federal and State regulations governing the Committee on Special Education and Committee on Preschool Special Education.
  6. Designs procedures and ensures compliance relative to Federal and State regulations governing the Section 504 process.
  7. Administers and evaluates the District Alternative Education program.
  8. Administers the District Wellness Program.
  9. Administers the District census and attendance programs.
  10. Oversees student discipline, including the Code of Conduct, and all Superintendent Hearings, pursuant to Section 3214 of the Education Law.
  11. Oversees student registration, enrollment, open enrollment, and residency, as well as the street directory and District maps.
  12. Oversees the District health program and school nursing services.
  13. Administers the K-12 school counseling, school psychology, school social work and related mental health programs.
  14. Participates in the recruitment, selection and appointment of administrative, teaching, student services, and support personnel.
  15. Oversees and assists in the development of District and Department budgets.
  16. Oversees District Safety Programming and the development of District and Building-Level safety plans. Member of the District Safety Committee.
  17. Participates in the development and/or delivery of the instructional program to include oversight of Gifted Programming services and the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program.
  18. Participates in the administration of the District Technology program.
  19. Reviews and recommends updates to Board of Education policies as appropriate.
  20. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.

Supervises: Coordinator(s) of Special Education and Coordinator of Student Services. Manager of Technology Systems Operations, WITS Programmers, and District Nurse Practitioner
