Therapeutic Teaching Model Job Summary
Intermediate District 287 and the Wilder Foundation are entering in a two-phase, partnership that will plan, pilot, and evaluate a new mental health service delivery model to concurrently address each student's educational and behavioral service needs.
Through this new service delivery model, which will assemble a multidisciplinary team of highlyskilled and committed staff, including educators and mental health providers, we believe it ispossible to work in unison to successfully treat and serve students at school.
We are looking for three teachers (kindergarten, elementary) to collaborate with mental health professionals in three multidisciplinary classrooms that will blend the delivery of high impact, culturally-responsive instructional strategies with multi-modal trauma-informed mental health care and exercises that promote social emotional development. Each classroom will be co-led by a full time 287 teacher and full time, licensed therapist from Wilder.
As with other setting IV classrooms in District 287, all students in the TTM classrooms will have IEPs. In addition to this document each student will undergo a diagnostic assessment of their behavioral and mental health needs that the Wilder therapist will use to guide the in-school care of each student toward emotional and physical regulation and more effective consumption of academic content. In addition to serving as a prophylactic measure by improving the overall positive functioning and behavior of the classroom students, the classroom therapists will be on-hand to immediately de-escalate any behavioral issues and/or crises that may arise throughout the course of the school day.
