The classroom teacher works with Oracle Charter School leadership and staff to provide a quality college preparatory educational program for all Oracle students and to develop and support the culture of the school. The classroom teacher supports charter-embedded instructional strategies and works with students and school leadership to achieve Oracle performance goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaches a full time course load of 5.0 course sections.
  • Plans effective instruction aligned with New York State performance benchmarks, AP, CLEP, and Common Core Standards, as applicable.
  • Builds and implements Interim Assessments, and interprets data to construct remediation plans.' ' '
  • Contributes to and helps to maintain school-wide Curriculum maps.
  • Provides materials for classroom instruction that are appropriate for the content-area and grade-levels of assigned courses.
  • Engages in peer review of instructional materials.
  • Uses student performance data to plan for instruction.
  • Works in departmental and grade-level teams to provide data-driven instruction that focuses on and responds to student results.
  • Identifies opportunities to utilize charter embedded strategies in planning for instruction.
  • Implements lesson plans and/or units of study using charter embedded instructional strategies.
  • Identifies opportunities to integrate the arts and/or technology in planning for instruction.
  • Implements lesson plans and/or units of study that integrate the arts and/or technology.
  • Provides positive and effective classroom management.
  • Contributes to positive school culture.
  • Communicates high expectations for all students' achievement.
  • Supports co-curricular and/or athletic program opportunities.
  • Assists in planning and supervision of activities that support school spirit and student involvement.
  • Creates a classroom environment that demonstrates high expectations for student work.
  • Works with the Special Education Intervention Team to effectively differentiate lessons for identified students.
  • Works within the guidelines and practices of the Child Study Team to recommend and implement intervention strategies to support students at-risk of academic failure.
  • Serves as an Advisor for a group of students.
  • Makes a good faith effort to attend summer, school-wide or small group professional development.
  • Attends all faculty, departmental, and grade-level team meetings.
  • Complies with all Oracle Charter School employment policies and procedures.
  • Participates in all other duties and tasks as requested and/or outlined in the teacher handbook.

Additional Job Information: NYS Certification preferred.
