Title: STEM Instructional Coach
Qualifications: *Current Kansas Teaching Certificate with endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file in the Devin Center
Health certificate on file in Devin Center
Reports to: Director of Innovations and Technology
Basic Function/Purpose
Support classroom teacher in the implementation of best practices in teaching and learning for STEM initiatives.
Performance Responsibilities
1. Support Classroom Instruction: to support teachers in order to help increase the quality and effectiveness of STEM classroom instruction.
a. Model/team teach effective research-based instruction
b. Provide opportunities for small group and individual discussions related to problems
teachers face regarding teaching/instruction through the use of coaching
strategies
c. Provide assistance and resources to teachers and school leaders in a timely manner
d. Observe instruction and provide feedback regularly
e. Help build teacher self-efficacy and empower them to build their own craftsmanship
2. Support Staff Development: to support implementation of STEM staff development and to support the design of collaborative, job-embedded, STEM standards-based staff development.
a. Provide on-going support for new professional development and learning with a focus
on STEM, research-based, best practices.
b. Facilitate implementation of professional development through job-embedded
coaching.
c. Respond to teacher's needs through differentiated STEM professional
opportunities
d. Provide professional development specific to classroom expectations for Braiding STEM early
3. Support/Facilitate Data Collection: to help ensure that student data drives STEM instructional decisions at the classroom and school level
a. Help teachers gather and evaluate data that will be used to guide their STEM instruction
b. Assist as needed with maintaining student data on appropriate databases
c. Support STEM differentiated instruction through the use of multiple measures of student data
4. Support Building and District Leadership: to help align expectations of building leadership
a. Be a role model for a positive teaching and learning environment
b. Support building and district leadership while being a catalyst for change
c. Lead and support the K-5 District STEM Task Force to develop STEM unit projects and rubrics
d. Lead and support STEM professional development activities
e. Create and support STEM based field experiences and Summer Camps
5. Support Life-long Learning: to act in a manner that demonstrates openness to new learning
and new ideas
a. Meet regularly with other coaches to build professional skills and a sense of community
b. Attend STEM professional seminars, conventions and other trainings in order to receive on-going learning in all applicable content areas
c. Stay current with STEM professional literature and latest research on best practices for
teaching/learning
6. Professional responsibilities

d. Collaborate with others to achieve a common goal
e. Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.

- Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs
- Acceptable use of technology
- Sexual and racial harassment
- Child abuse reporting

Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
