Director Professional Learning Communities

SUMMARY Provide district-wide leadership, direction and training to schools and departments by developing and implementing PLC-based improvement process. Engage School Leadership Teams in schools moving forward in PLC implementation. Define, design, develop, implement and support all PLC structures, systems and processes related to the development of effective PLCs. Collaborate with various stakeholders (Chief Officers, Achievement Director, Principals, and district departments), as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Provide direction and oversight in the design, development and implementation of structure systems and processes that support effective PLCs throughout the district.

Direct and oversee a team that provides consultation, course-correction, and feedback to participants in a PLC. This includes program, school and individual assessment and consultation/feedback.

Collect data, review outcomes and provide course correction to school and district leaders in relation to PLC-based improvement processes and sustainability.

Provide summary reporting to district central leadership regarding the implementation, successes, issues and concerns related to the district PLCs.

Plan and implement professional learning for district administrators, principals, coaches, teachers and other impacted staff.

Ensure integration and coordination with professional learning, curriculum and instruction, instructional coaches, Student Success Office, etc.

Create and implement a district action plan for the long term sustainability of PLC-based improvement processes, in support of district foals of collaboration and increased student achievement.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE Minimum of seven years of successful teaching and principal experience, demonstrated classroom/school implementation of best practices in instructional strategies, and leadership practices.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Valid Colorado teaching license or certificate and Master's degree required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Principal license required, valid Colorado driver's license

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to provide feedback and have difficult conversations. Skilled in group facilitation, process/program design building/system change, problem solving and leadership. Demonstrated understanding and implementation of providing support to schools, related to school practice changes. Ability to help others make sense of and adjust to change. Demonstrated success in working with adult learners. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, school day, and school year. Ability to use standard district technology effectively and efficiently for a variety of purposes and willingness to learn new technology. Demonstrated flexibility and capacity for dealing with ambiguity. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Knowledge and understanding of Jeffco curriculum. Understand the use of data to driven instruction.

DECISION MAKING Decision making involves developing strategy and making recommendations regarding direction for the District regarding the Professional Learning Communities program. Requires comprehensive understanding of Board policy, District policy, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Requires long-term planning skills, ability to analyze and synthesize and the ability to support school leaders at various levels. Standards for decision making are not defined and errors in decision making could result in substantial embarrassment or cost to the District.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with school and district administrators and teachers to support and implement PLCs, including curriculum, instruction, assessments, and professional development. Daily contact with PLC Specialists in order to progress monitor implementation of PLCs. Weekly/monthly contact with PLC Specialist team to plan professional learning.

SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises employees in Educator Effectiveness. Positions may include Teachers on Special Assignment and classified employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Provide direct and ongoing leadership and support for district, schools and teachers in the ongoing implementation of PLC-based improvement processes

COMPLEXITY OF WORK Work is assigned to by the Executive Director, Educator Effectiveness. This position requires independent judgment, leadership, systemic thinking, conflict reduction and mediation strategies, process design, and constructs creating win-win results. Requires perspective and independent and professional judgment to interpret policies. Requires the ability to communicate, negotiate and collaborate in emotionally charged situations. Requires the ability to analyze and provide feedback regarding instructional delivery in schools and provide instructional assistance to principals, staff, and community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
