PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide on-site coaching and support to designated teachers in the implementation of the district math curriculum. Under the direction of the district elementary math coordinator, the math coach will work directly with teachers to improve instruction, collect and analyze data, and develop actions plans in response to identified student needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide individualized, classroom-based support to implement district math curriculum.
Plan collaboratively with teachers one-on-one and in grade level teams to develop effective lessons and assessments.
Instruct teachers in the use of strategies, methods, and techniques to improve math proficiency, including culturally responsive practices.
Observe classroom instruction and coach teachers to ensure math strategies and methods are being effectively implemented.
Deliver classroom coaching using modeling, co-planning, data analysis, and one-on-one coaching.
Conduct professional development workshops and demonstrations pertinent to methods and materials appropriate to various levels of math instruction.
Research and identify appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement.
Provide feedback on the development and implementation of the district math curriculum.
Assist teachers in using assessment data to guide instruction and support all students.
Prepare forms, records, and reports as directed.
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching, or related discipline.
Hold or be eligible for Missouri elementary teacher certification
Minimum of Three (3) years of elementary teaching experience
Knowledge of the Missouri Learning Standards
Background experience and knowledge in the area of elementary math instruction
Experience in conducting professional development in the content area
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Math 5-9 Missouri certification or equivalent
Master of Education with math education emphasis
Teaching experience in urban schools
Experience as a Resource Teacher
Experience with curriculum and assessment development
Leadership experience
