    Title: Academic Readiness/Literacy Lab Teacher

    Qualifications: *Valid Kansas Teaching Certificate (Reading/LA Gr. 6-8)
    *Reading Intervention Instructional Background
    *Good personal and social skills for working with middle school students and staff.

    Reports To: Building Administrator

    Supervises: Students

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
    To provide Reading Intervention instruction in order for students to make progress toward grade level.

    CRITICAL SKILLS:

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Work with struggling readers using various instructional and intervention strategies with the use of the Language! program.
    2. Analyze data to design strategies and interventions for individual student improvement.
    3. Assist counselors and the academic coach in the placement of students into the reading strategy classes.
    4. Collaborate with other reading intervention teachers.
    5. Participate in building and district curriculum meetings.
    6. Keep up-to-date with the latest research in the Reading/English curriculum and instruction.
    7. Attend professional development appropriate for personal growth.
    8. Uphold and enforce Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including but not limited to
    Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs
    Acceptable use of technology
    Sexual and racial harassment
    Child abuse reporting
    1. All other duties as assigned.
    Term of Employment: Teacher Contract

    Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with state regulations and the terms established in the negotiated agreement.
