Master's degree
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Valid Educational Diagnostician Certification
Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Educaiton Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of 3 years of certified teaching certificate
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Proficient in Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Educational Diagnostician will be responsible for conducting thorough evaluations that determine a special education disability condition, an educational need for specialized instruction through special education, and appropriate recommendations that translate to positive learning outcomes for the student. The incumbent will coordinate ARD/IEP meetings and ensure the appropriate implementation of the individual education plan. Maintain compliance with all federal / local timelines, individual records, state performance plan indicators 11 & 12, and discipline procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Service Delivery
• Plan and provide services that are appropriate and consistent with Full Individual Evaluations
• Collaborate with campus, special education, and district staff to verify accuracy of PEIMS data in conjunction with IEP services
• Facilitate ARD/IEP meetings as outlined in district special education handbook
Compliance
• Comply with and meet federal and state mandates and local board policy
• Coordinate and conduct Full Individual Evaluations based upon current assessment best practices that are consistent with laws, rules, and regulations according to federal, state, and local policies / procedures
• Interpret special education laws, local Compile and interpret students' evaluation results using multiple sources of data, along with information from teachers and parents, to diagnose special education disability conditions and to help assess eligibility / need for special services
• Comply with district policy, and individual evaluation results with campus staff and parents to plan individualized programs and make instructional recommendations that result in appropriate services for students with disabilities
Administrative/ Campus Support
• Support student services as outlined by the ARD committee
• Manage and maintain accurate individual special education records (e.g., ARD/IEP meetings, FIEs, parent/guardian communication, notifications, informed consent)
• Develop collaborative relationships with assessment personnel, families, educators, administrators, outside agencies, and related service personnel
• Serve as a resource to campus staff in ensuring appropriate implementation of all special education and related services
