Title Catering SpecialistDescription PURPOSE OF JOB: Organizing and overseeing all district catering events, recipe/menu development, marketing of the catering program, product ordering, inventory management, preparation and service of meals to students, guests, and community of KCPS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and prepares all catering events, to include meal prep and set up.
Develop menus and recipes that meet the expectations of our
Determine the labor, food, and supply cost of all menu Price events according to the cost of menu items, the market, customer expectations, and profitability.
Maintain fiscal responsibility by controlling labor, food, and supply
Order weekly supplies based on materials on hand and forecasted production
Ensure successful operation of catering events including preparation of food, delivery, set-up, service, and clean-up.
Prepare food following standardized recipes, preparation, and serving
Utilize work simplification
Exhibit knowledge of operation of all equipment in the
Assure product is cooked and held at proper temperature for highest quality food
Load, deliver, and unload food and equipment in district van to various locations across the Kansas City School
Set-up catering events according to the type of event (i.e. lunch buffet, served dinner) and style
(i.e. disposable, china) in a logical and eye appealing manner according to instructions. Ensure proper serving utensils are available.
Keep food and supplies stocked during Meet customer needs as they arise.
Clean-up catering events in a way that is not disturbing to
Send information on completed events to FNS Office on a timely basis for

Work cooperatively with Supervisor at preparation site for accurate amounts of food to be delivered. Assist with ordering appropriate food, supplies and equipment in correct quantities for the cafeteria as
Assist with training in the professional development of cafeteria Provide leadership in maintaining good working relationships within the cafeteria.
Follow food service menus and directives in preparing school Keep accurate food production records daily as assigned. Record leftovers, store properly and utilize effectively as directed by manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school
Three (3) years experience in quantity food
Must be able to prepare/cook food from scratch and deliver great presentation and taste.
Ability to lift/push 100 pounds with
Must be able to work independently under limited supervision, manage multiple tasks, and work calmly and effectively under
Must be able to quickly identify problems and determine
Must have great attention to detail and commitment to quality food and
Must be able to continue to develop and grow a catering
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of school district personnel, students, parents, vendors, and the
Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the FNS Manager in the kitchen where a catering food is being prepared or where an event is being

Must have a demonstrated knowledge of computer skills including MS

Must be able to work a flexible schedule: early mornings, weekends, summers, etc, as needed to support catering needs.
Must be able to be re-assigned to work in non-catering areas of the FNS Department as

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Training and certification in a Culinary Arts Program
Experience in catering and or food service preparing for a full service company.
