The Jackson Public Schools, Jackson, Mississippi, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent.  The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position on or before July 1, 2018.

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The board has identified the following desired characteristics:

• Is an effective communicator with students, parents, teachers, principals, staff, the board and the community. 
• Has a passion for and focus on high student achievement. Additionally, the individual will have a genuine concern for all students and a strong knowledge of best practices in the areas of instruction and evaluation to foster increased student achievement.
• Has experience working in an urban district with a track record of success.
• Possesses dynamic leadership ability with demonstrated skills in problem solving. A strategic thinker with integrity. 
• Is politically savvy, open, honest and accessible to all stakeholders, 
• Actively initiates community involvement.
• Is knowledgeable in school finance and skilled in financial planning and management.
