Supervises: Students K-5
BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
The STEM Teacher will coordinate and implement a STEM curriculum in collaboration with the USD 475 STEM coaches for the goal of improving K-5 student achievement and understanding in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The STEM Teacher will be responsible for managing the STEM Classroom ensuring materials are effectively and safely used by K-5 students. The STEM Teacher/Life Coach will also help students understand how to best learn at school, be proactive and exercise personal leadership with individuals or small groups of students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize best instructional practices, methods, materials and technology that have proved to increase student achievement in STEM, with emphasis on Science inquiry-based methodologies.
- Cultivate and model a respectful, safe and rigorous STEM classroom.
- Evaluate student work, both formative and summative assessments, benchmarks and other assessments to guide instructional planning and promote student achievement and understanding.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other teachers to strengthen students' experience of the STEM curriculum.
- Relate well to students, staff (Building and District) and parents.
- Provide ongoing instruction and lab experience based on content standards.
- Work with individual or small groups of students to set student goals, monitor academic progress and encourage personal leadership.
- Help organize and monitor student leadership positions/jobs to promote and encourage positive student behaviors.
- Interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills to effectively facilitate K-5 Kansas Curriculum and planning with K-5 teaching staff.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with K-5 teachers.
- Ability to meet time-related goals to ensure maximal coverage of intended Science Curriculum.
- Strong class management skill, procedures and strategies for working with students.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with state regulations and the terms established in the negotiated agreement.
