Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Mathematics endorsement is required
- BA required, MA preferred
- Minimum of three years experience working with At-Risk students
- Commitment to the success of all children and the belief that every student has the ability to achieve a rigorous career/college-prep curriculum
- Demonstrated success in collaborative teaching, managing a mixed-ability classroom and facilitating performance-based learning
- Evidence of adaptability and problem solving
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Evidence of good interpersonal skills with colleagues and parents
Immediate Supervisor: Associate Principal of Curriculum and Instruction
The Interventionist Will:
- Work with the Intervention Coordinator and Instructional Coaches to design and implement the school's MTSS/RTI structure.
- Demonstrate exemplary classroom math/literacy instructional practice and possess a deep understanding of mathematics theory for the purpose of effective best practices to improve student achievement results and close achievement gaps.
- Work with students who are not yet demonstrating grade-level proficiency in math/literacy.
- Deliver instruction in individual or small-group settings to students assigned by Intervention Coordinator.
- Develop instructional materials and coordinate the delivery of instruction.
- Regularly analyze data from interim assessments and other progress monitoring tools to assess student progress while delivering focused intervention to students.
- Motivate struggling learners and work to change negative self-perceptions that some students have about their ability to be good at math/literacy.
- Listen, support and model effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Build self-awareness and self-confidence with students.
- Participates and contributes as a member of the Intervention Team.
- Attend trainings as assigned and participate in all monthly staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
