POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Professional Learning and New Teacher Development will lead and support all efforts focused on system-wide professional learning and new teacher development support. This role will be expected to align programs with the district strategic plan and researched-based professional learning standards. Responsibilities include identifying, prioritizing, and implementing system-wide professional development for all stakeholders district-wide; leading and coordinating the FWPS new teacher mentoring model and development of new teachers; leading and coordinating system-wide instructional coaching model; oversight and coordination of our professional learning management system; assess the professional learning efficacy on a consistent basis; conducts on-going needs assessments and evaluating the success or lack thereof of all district-wide professional development endeavors; program development/monitoring to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, staff development and supervision, budget management/grant procurement, and serving as liaison between schools, outside agencies and the community.

  • Leads and collaborates on system-wide planning for professional learning and new teacher development.Ensures all professional development builds the capacity for culturally competent workforce.Provides oversight and coordination with the Chief Academic Officer to establish and monitor budgets that includes appropriate funding and staffing needed to succeed with strategic plan goals, including state grants and especially the use of Title II funds. This work includes support for school staffing models and for high-quality recruiting and hiring by principals. In addition, completing the Beginning Educator Support Team iGrant.Collaborates with Human Resources to recruit and to identify teachers who qualify for BTAP support and to enhance teacher certification opportunities.Partners with Human Resources to lead and develop face-to-face and virtual onboarding for new employees.Researches, coordinates, develops, and designs virtual learning opportunities in collaboration with the Director of Technology and various departments;Develops and memorializes system-wide support structures by designing training procedures, manuals, or course materials (e.g. Instructional Coach manual, New Teacher mentor manual, Professional Development Catalogs);Successfully collaborates with internal employees and outside vendors to translate organizational and department necessities in to department initiatives;Leads and ensures there is continual culturally responsive professional learning and onboarding aligned to our curriculum management plan and implementation of our guaranteed and viable curriculum;Analyze data on a consistent basis to determine program effectiveness and support structures for closing the achievement gap.Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer coordinates and ensures all professional development aligns with the district strategic plan and advances our goals;Leads efforts to coach and build capacity of the district-wide instructional coaching model;Oversees all professional development system-wide. This includes coordinating with various departments in planning and communicating yearlong professional developmentEstablishes program quality standards, data and record systems, and internal and external evaluation processes to ensure success, including compliance with applicable laws, district policies and grant funding regulations. Establishes and implements policies, procedures and standards for the efficient, safe and effective operation of assigned programs.Develops a comprehensive communication plan and products to engage staff in professional development activities.Provides expertise in coaching adults, specifically, teachers instructional coaches- bring specific expertise around early career teachers to enhance programs within and across departments.Responsible for hiring and recruiting staff for programs and staff. This includes, advertising, screening, interviewing for the best candidates.Collects and communicates data to monitor program effectiveness.Leads and provides oversight to BTAP, National Board, Professional Certification programs;Participates in continual learning regarding best practices in supporting programs. This includes researching current state certification rules.Supervise clock hour manager, new teacher mentors, instructional coaching program, and support staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Master's degree in education, educational leadership, educational policy or related field
Three (3) years of teaching experience in PK-12
Three (3) years of experience as a principal/assistant principal

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Washington State teaching certificate
Experience with public speaking
Continuing progression in authority and responsibility in positions/job assignments over time
Must be able to work evenings, when necessary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Washington State administrator certificate

Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis

SIOP and other inclusive instructional strategies
WaKIDS assessment and other activities of the state-funded full-day kindergarten program
District policies and procedures applicable to this position and employment with the District
Equity frameworks and culturally responsive teaching practice

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 35 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is may be required to travel to various locations. Nights and Weekends may be required occasionally to meet job demands.
