NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION :
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

ENGLISH AS A NEW LANGUAGE COACH/BILINGUAL EDUCATION COACH - TOSA
DIVISION OF MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master's degree and New York State certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or Bilingual Education. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. Candidates must have completed three years of approved and appropriate teaching experience with multilingual learners and/or coaching experience with ENL and/or Bilingual teachers. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults.

EXPERIENCE :
In evaluating each candidate's qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate's coursework and experiences in the areas of scientifically based research, assessment, and professional development in the area of second language acquisition, cultural and linguistically responsive teaching, early literacy skills for grades K - 12, making content comprehensible and accessible, and Commissioner Regulations (C.R.) Part 154.

DUTIES :
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Designing, delivering and monitoring the implementation of district-wide and building based professional development related to the effective instruction of and supports for multilingual learners (MLLs).
  • Providing coaching and modeling in the areas of
    • C.R. Part 154
    • District & division initiatives and focus areas
    • Research based instructional strategies
  • Collaborating with administrators and staff regarding the implementation of research based instructional strategies that are direct, explicit, systematic, and designed to meet the unique needs of multilingual learners.
  • Monitoring of strategies, materials and the instructional program to ensure that they are appropriate and comprehensible for multilingual learners.
  • Assisting buildings in the review and analysis of student and building data to assist in determining appropriate interventions, acceleration, program modifications and or professional development
  • Attending district Professional Development for teachers and coaches.
  • Plan, conduct and coordinate Division of Multilingual events.
  • Serve as a liaison for buildings to inform and engage them of Division events and offerings.
  • Serve as a representative of the Division by attending District events and professional development, followed by turn-keying information to teachers and Division staff.
  • Work under the Supervision of Division administration.

APPOINTMENT :
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews, a modeled lesson and a writing sample shall be scheduled. This appointment will be processed as "temporarily assigned" to the position. All temporary assignments end not later than June 30 and must be processed each year.
