At Las Américas ASPIRA Academy, the Mathematics Instructional Coach divides their time between working with children or adolescents as a specialist and working with teachers/administration as the math coach/coordinator.

At Las Américas ASPIRA Academy, the Mathematics Instructional Coach divides their time between working with children or adolescents as a specialist and working with teachers/administration as the math coach/coordinator.
The following qualifications for the Mathematics Instructional Coach are taken from the National Council for the Teachers of Mathematics. They must be prepared to fulfill the duties of all three areas:
- A specialist teaching students in one or more grade levels or work with particular groups of students to provide remedial or enrichment support services.
- A coach focusing on providing professional development for teachers by providing them with the additional support needed to implement various instructional programs and practices. They provide essential leadership for the school's entire math program by helping create and supervise a long-term staff development process that supports both the development and implementation of the math program over months and years. Use best practices for adult learning.
- A coordinator responsible for developing, leading, and evaluating school-wide programs. Also, assuming responsibilities that require them to work more with systematic change at the school level based on school-wide data results. In addition, they organize Response to Intervention (RTI) instruction and corresponding assessments.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Serve as a resource for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other professionals in planning programs to meet the needs of diverse populations of learners.
- Provides professional development opportunities at the local and state levels.
- Provides leadership in student advocacy.
It is expected that they will meet the following qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience
- Pass Praxis exam for the grades in which they are teaching
- Master's degree with concentration in their educational area
