The Office of Student Support Services is the hub that connects the supports needed to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.

Under the Deputy Superintendent's direction, the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services will lead and supervise all activities performed in the Office of Student Support Services, operating as a liaison for schools, central office, as well as community partners. As outlined in the Strategic Plan, s/he leads District initiatives including but not limited to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Restorative Practices, Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS), and social-emotional programming. S/he is responsible for the coordination of services, operations, and compliance across a number of functional areas, including but not limited to: Student Enrollment, Magnet Process, Student Code of Conduct, Student Assistance Program, Homeless Services (i.e. McKinney-Vento Act), Truancy, Teen Parenting, Athletics, Out-of-School Time Programming, Career and College Readiness, Health Services, and District-wide Counselor and Social Work services.

Salary:
Annual base salary of $132, 000, with the opportunity to earn an annual performance increment and achievement bonus

FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications:
Candidate must be committed to continuous improvement with the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. In addition, we are seeking candidates with the following educational and experiential requirements and knowledge, skills, and abilities:

- Pennsylvania Department of Education-issued Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility;

- Master's degree in Education Leadership or other relevant discipline required;

- Ability to work cross-functionally across a number of departments and engage multiple stakeholders, specifically schools, parents, and community members, in working toward a common goal;

- Ability to lead, grow and develop staff; a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred;

- Must possess effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills;

- Knowledgeable about change management and quickly able to establish credibility among team members including partners, peers, and executive leadership;

-Budget and resource management skills, with a track record of completing projects and tasks on time and on budget;

- Must possess strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides leadership and oversight of Student Support Services, including, but not limited to: Student Enrollment, Magnet Process, Student Code of Conduct, Student Assistance Program, Homeless Services (i.e. McKinney-Vento Act), Truancy, Teen Parenting, Athletics, Out-of-School Time Programming, Career and College Readiness, Health Services, and District-wide Counselor and Social Work services.

2. Leads District initiatives including, but not limited to, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Restorative Practices, Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS), and social-emotional programming.

3.Responsible for the budget development of Student Support Services, applying resources strategically.

4. Consults with direct reports and other stakeholders to identify and analyze problems, formulate solutions, and work toward resolutions.

5. Utilizes data to make informed decisions, and to prioritize and evaluate the work of the department.

6. Ensures all student enrollment options, procedures and transfer requests are processed appropriately.

7. Works collaboratively with Special Education to ensure IDEA regulations are followed for suspensions, expulsions, and alternative education placements.

8. Serves as an active participant of Superintendent's Cabinet and brings important data forward to inform the work.

9. Works collaboratively with the juvenile justice system to ensure adjudicated youth have appropriate supports.

10. Serves as a resource to schools regarding Code of Student Conduct violations.

11. Oversees the Discipline Office and Hearing process.

12. Other duties as deemed necessary by Deputy Superintendent.
