Assistant Principal needed for the 2018-19 school year.

PURPOSE
: To implement the District's Strategic Plan by assisting the principal to provide effective leadership that will foster student growth, ensure an empowering learning community, and safeguard compliance with District, state, and federal regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Possess valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Administration Endorsement;Professional Educator License with Special Education, Early Childhood, and/or School Support Personnel endorsementsCompletion of the Growth through Learning Teacher Performance Evaluator Training Program;Knowledge of exemplary instructional practices related to student achievement, special education legal requirements, and MTSS in grades PreK-2;Understanding of Early Childhood Curriculum and services for students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities;Ability to work collaboratively with school and district personnel to improve student achievement;Knowledge of a broad range of materials, resources, and practices in PreK-2 curriculum areas;Understanding of the needs of special education, ELL and gifted students and related best practices;Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students and staff members; ability to organize, prioritize, work under time constraints and to be flexible in an environment of multiple tasks and changing priorities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Demonstrated instructional leadership skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
  1. Assist the principal in the administration, educational leadership, organization, supervision, and safety of the school in cooperation with district personnel;Provide instructional leadership for staff - assist in the school improvement planning process and implementation;Supervise and evaluate staff as assigned by the principal;Share responsibility with the principal for the planning and implementation of professional development at the building level;Participate in the screening, interviewing and selection process for staff members as assigned;Support grade level teaming by regularly attending meetings, participating in team initiatives and promoting staff and student recognition.Establish and maintain positive relationships with students;Support district-wide programs and district efforts by participating on committees and attending meetings as necessary;Share responsibility with principal for special education programs and problem solving initiatives;Implement and monitor the District's special education procedures and programs in compliance with the Illinois School Code and other laws and regulations;Manage requests and coordinate services for early childhood programs (at-risk and special education), private/parochial preschools, birth to three transitions, and NSSED programs;Responsible for ensuring accurate electronic databases (eSped, Powerschool, Medicaide, etc.) and timely data input by special education teachers and related services personnel;Provide training and consistent monitoring and compliance with special education policies, procedures;Coordinate and facilitate developmental screenings designed to satisfy the District's child find duties;Facilitate communication and documentation regarding transportation requirements for appropriate students with Coordinator of Transportation and others as appropriate.Responsible for the timely and accurate coordination, facilitation and monitoring of: consultation requests, referrals, assessment/evaluation, intervention plans, individual education programs, multidisciplinary meetings, timelines, birth to three transitions and student records;Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Student Services to improve the supports and programs for students with special needs.Consistently demonstrate effective communication with principals, assistant principals, case managers, psychologists, social workers, speech pathologists and related service personnel regarding special education and preschool aged students;Consult with special education teachers and related services personnel in long and short range planning and scheduling related to programming for special education and preschool students;Monitor and assist teachers and related services personnel to ensure the curriculum is implemented with integrity and fidelity;Share responsibility with principal for monitoring and addressing student behavior needs;Serve as the principal in the absence of the regular and perform other duties as assigned by the principal;Assume other duties assigned by the principal/Superintendent.

TERM: Teacher School Year Plus 30 Additional Days (30 additional days to be calendared before and after the school year with final approval from the Principal/Executive Director of Student Services)

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Principal
