Our Essex Middle School is seeking a licensed teacher to provide science instruction to our middle school students beginning with the 2018-19 school year. Students are in straight grades, but loop with the same teachers for both 7th and 8th grade. Experience in project based learning that regularly integrates technology and incorporates literacy throughout the content area is essential. Genuine interest, appreciation, and love of middle school students as well as a thorough understanding of middle level best practices are required. Below are some additional qualifications being sought:

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid VT Educator license with a middle school science endorsement (4-19C preferred). Those with a secondary science endorsement (2-13) also considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in science and content-area pedagogy.
- Knowledge and/or experience using "backwards design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery
- Experience working on teacher teams is also desirable
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the Next Gen and Common Core Science Standards
- Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students
- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students
- The ability to effectively engage students
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the student population being served and how demographic variables impact student achievement, and effectively uses this knowledge to effectively design and delivery instruction.
- Effective integrates 21st century skills into the learning environment
