Director of Family, Student, and School Partnerships[Greenwood K-8]

The Director of Family, Student, and School Partnerships at the Greenwood manages non-instructional activities, school accounts, RAICES foundation, family and school culture relationships, ensuring consistency, transparency and high quality supports for the community at-large. This position supports the strategic vision and instructional focus of the Greenwood K-8 School to offer students opportunities to engage in culturally responsive & cognitively demanding student centered tasks that will be anchored by Restorative Justice practices via internal and external partners/ partnership that will promote the core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Community. Reporting to the School Principal and working closely with members of the BPS Central Office Operations Team (liaising with OHC, Budget, Food Services, Office of Data and Accountability, Communications, COO Office, etc.), the Director of Family, Student, and School Partnerships may manage the School Secretary and other members of the school-based staff in non-instructional positions. The Director of Family, Student, and School Partnerships works closely with the Principal, School Site Council, Parent Council and Community to secure and administer supports for all community members, as a member of the school's leadership team with a focus in operational clarity and building student supports that sustain student academic, and social emotional growth.

Responsibilities

The Director of Family, Student, and School Partnerships will have responsibilities within the scope of:

School Administration and Operations
  • Oversee non-academic operations of the school to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
  • Provide fiscal oversight at the school by working with the school principal and BPS central finance staff to develop and manage the schools budget.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and submit them to the BPS central finance staff for processing (or manage the school secretary in doing this)
  • Participate in monthly meetings to review/account for budget variances
  • Oversee the effective implementation of core school operational practices as it relates to student and staff attendance tracking, supply requests and fulfillment, student enrollment/discharges, student meal tracking, student transportation, field trip planning and execution, etc.
  • Ensure the timely implementation of all items on BPS monthly administrative calendar
  • In conjunction with the principal, and Assistant Principal ensure that student records are properly maintained and updated at the school
  • Perform other school-based administrative activities and special projects as might be assigned by the principal
Management and Leadership
  • Directly supervise the school secretary, and other staff as agreed upon
  • Directly supervise and support professional development for paraprofessionals jointly with Teacher Leader/Assistant Principal
  • Leads/facilitates Community and Council meetings as needed
  • Creates opportunities for conflict resolution via RJ practices for families, guardians and community
Managing the Network of School Partnerships
  • Achieve annual partnership goals/fundraising goals by supporting recruitment of new school partners and renewing existing partnerships aligned with mission and vision of the school
  • Plan and execute recruitment and retention strategies for new and existing partners, such as conducting market research, organizing meetings, and planning events
  • Respond to calls for RFPs and negotiate contracts and memoranda of understanding with guidance from the BPS Department of Partnership and Finance.
  • Lead the school application cycle for external funding
  • Build meaningful relationships with school and community leaders throughout the District to support the Instructional and social emotional learning goals of the school.
  • Provide thought leadership on experiential learning and professional learning for teachers
Implementing School Partnerships:
  • Ensure Greenwood Partnership meet the highest quality standards in program design, implementation, student service and management
  • Manage the growth plan, model, and report on the outcome to alignment of partnerships
  • Manage program evaluation, usage of data, and results reporting internally and externally
  • Create and manage annual plans, budgets, and reporting
Contributing to Strategy, Growth, and Impact
  • Contribute to the long-term vision, strategy, growth, and impact of strategies at the Greenwood K-8 as it aligns to the Greenwood Entry Plan
  • Identify opportunities and challenges relating to school partnerships and develop supports to close achievement and opportunity gap during out-of school learning time.
  • Stay abreast of current issues in early childhood and elementary education as they relate to the Greenwood K-8 mission
  • Work on teams to develop new initiatives, programs, and supports
  • Support the development team in education-focused proposals and reports
  • Facilitate team meetings dedicated to identifying student needs and identifying appropriate interventions, and revisiting these students at subsequent meetings
  • Support successful implementation of school-wide attendance and behavior programs
  • Provide job-embedded supports for multidisciplinary teacher teams responsible for implementing strategies, incentives, and interventions regarding student attendance behavior and course performance.
  • Provide regular accessibility to EWI data (user-friendly form) and other outcome measures, to teachers, collaborating partners, and other stakeholders
  • Assist with evaluation activities and data-analyses to increase attendance and decrease tardiness/loss of instructional minutes

Education and Experience
  • Previous school experience in an urban setting , including experience as an elementary/middle school teacher
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field of study is preferred
  • Experience managing successful teams
  • Knowledge of financial statements and prior experience managing a budget
  • Spanish Language Proficiency
  • Strong belief that all students in BPS can achieve at high levels
  • Strong collaborative work ethic and approach toward families and staff
  • Experience leading teacher professional development
  • Experience with Microsoft Office/Google Office Suite/social media/website maintenance and content management/media
Terms: Managerial Tier D, City of Boston Residency Required

NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school.
School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time.
