Build your legacy opening a new state-of-the-art high school in one of the largest public school districts in New England. South High Community School, an integral part of the City of Worcester for almost 120 years, is preparing to open a new campus and is seeking an experienced administrator to be part of the leadership team to create the next generation of South High.

South High is a comprehensive high school comprised of approximately 1400 students and 140 faculty and staff. It is classified as a level 3 school by the MA DESE. South High offers academic and vocational/technical programs of study, including an extensive number of AP classes.

As the instructional leader of the school, the principal is tasked with hiring excellent staff and engaging in regular and relevant evaluation of all staff. South High has a strong culture of excellence, and personnel management to sustain this culture will be a primary responsibility of this position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Licensure as a High School Principal (9-12) from the Massachusetts Department of Education. Possession of the SEI endorsement.

2. A minimum of a Master's Degree in an appropriate field.

3. At least three (3) years' experience as a public secondary school administrator or a district level administrator or a supervisor of secondary curriculum

4. Experience as an evaluator of educators in accordance with MA regulations

5. Experience ensuring equitable educational programming for diverse populations of students including special education and English language learners

6. Demonstrated educational leadership including creating a positive school culture

7. Experience developing and managing a budget including a line-item expenditure process.

8. Experience successfully engaging parents, teachers and members of the community into the school community.

9. Proven ability to work as part of a management team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three (3) years' experience as a principal/assistant principal at the high school level.

2. Experience in urban school administration, preferably in a community school setting or in a setting with multiple community and business partnerships

3. Ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Albanian, Twi, or French.

COMPENSATION AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a 52-week position which includes paid sick, personal, and vacation time. The contract year is July 1 to June 30. The successful candidate will be offered a contract of up to three years in duration. Annual salary range is $120,000-$125,000 depending upon experience.
