QUALIFICATIONS:

**Current Full-Time Fort Bend ISD Assistant Principals only**

• Master's degree required
• Principal or Mid-Management Certification required
• Minimum of three years successful experience as a classroom teacher, preferably on the level assigned, required
• Minimum of two years of successful experience as a campus Elementary Assistant Principal required
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Experience at an administrative level at a bilingual and/or ESL campus preferred

Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. This position requires travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some nights and weekends.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

The Principal, Elementary Bilingual/ESL (Summer School) will provide instructional leadership to the Bilingual/ESL summer school programs at assigned summer school site. The incumbent will assume administrative responsibility for the supervision and operation of the summer programs. The principal will assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school staff and students. The incumbent will maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary and afford due process to the rights of students. The incumbent will assume responsibility for the attendance, progress, conduct and health of students and supervise the maintenance of accurate records for each student in each of these areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and direct the summer school programs
• Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by summer school personnel and students
• Assume responsibility for the safety and administration of the school facilities
• Assist in the recruiting, screening, recommending, hiring, assigning, evaluation, supervision and payroll of professional and paraprofessional summer school staff on assigned campus
• Supervise all professional and paraprofessional personnel assigned to summer school site
• Monitor classroom instruction and ensure that the curriculum is being implemented effectively
• Develop and implement enrichment activities for the summer program
• Attend Skyward training for running reports (i.e., progress reports)
• Attend planning and Budget/Payroll meetings
• Plan for and conduct late registration for summer school
• Delegate authority to qualified personnel to assume responsibility for summer school in the absence of the summer school principal
• Schedule summer school time efficiently to conduct school instruction and business
• Maintain a high standard of student conduct and enforce discipline as appropriate based on District rules
• Assume responsibility for the transportation, attendance, progress, and conduct of summer school students in all programs on site and supervise/monitor the staff in the maintenance and reporting of accurate records for students
• Supervise the preparation of all summer school reports for the district office
• Assume responsibility for all information reported to central office and serve as a liaison between the summer school campus and the administration building
• Review and insure timesheet calculations are correct and submitted for payment on time
• Perform other duties as assigned
