Summary
The successful candidate will possess the appropriate Massachusetts Educators License and serve as a Middle School Math Teacher at the Collins Middle School or one of the district's K-8 schools. The goal for this teacher is to help and motivate students to develop competencies in basic mathematical skills in the solution of practical problems and an understanding of the structure of mathematics by implementing the District approved curriculum.

Summary

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of methods, mathematics principles of effective instruction
- Identify underachieving students in need of support in the areas of mathematics by using the district assessments plan
- Evaluates each students' progress in mathematical knowledge and skills
- Demonstrates mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids
- Prepares teaching materials and related reports (grading papers with objective answers, attendance and anecdotal records) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress
- Participates in in-service programs to enhance the overall educational experience for students
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
- Provides structure in the classroom by promoting a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Works under the general supervision of the building principal and or other designated administrator, manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement
- Additional duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Required) Masters Degree preferred
- Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Mathematics 5-8; Highly Qualified status under No Child Left Behind
- SEI Endorsement Required
- The ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice
- Current authorization to work in the United States
