Sheridan County School District #1, Ranchester, Wyoming, is accepting applications for a superintendent of schools.  The successful candidate should demonstrate successful teaching, management, administrative and instructional leadership skills and possess high moral character to inspire and lead a school district that expects and supports a comprehensive educational program for its students.

Sheridan County School District # 1, located in one of Wyoming’s most picturesque areas, nestled in the foothills of the majestic Big Horn Mountains, serves the communities of Big Horn, Dayton, Parkman and Ranchester.   The district administrative offices are located in Ranchester.  The economy of this district includes farming, ranching, tourism, and mineral production.  Hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and other outstanding recreational opportunities are abundant.  The area is rich in history as the Bozeman Trail passed through the town of Big Horn and the Connor Battlefield is located in the town of Ranchester.

Sheridan County School District #1 is one of three school districts in Sheridan County.  The district serves approximately 931 students in three main attendance centers, Ranchester, Dayton, and Big Horn.  The district consists of seven schools that offer a comprehensive educational program for students in grades kindergarten through 12 and which serve as the center of their communities.  SCSD#1 has operated on an alternative four-day week schedule since 1982.  The use of this schedule to create uninterrupted time for learning has contributed to the success of the district, which is viewed as a state leader in student achievement and professional development. High expectations for each child and a strong commitment to support the learning endeavor of each of its diverse learning communities are the hallmarks of the district.  The district is fully accredited by the Wyoming Department of Education and AdvancED.
