Delaware Design-Lab High School is now hiring exceptional educators to join our family for the 2018-2019 school year.

Teaching opportunities are for full-time, 10-month positions and for the following credentials.

Special Education Teacher of Exceptional Children, Grades K-12

Required:

Bachelor's degree; Delaware licensure and state teaching certificate; Available for work on employment start date of August 2018.

Preferred/not required:

Secondary math certification, Grades 9-12; technology integration skills.

Successful candidate will demonstrate:

Knowledge of core standards and rigorous instruction; Knowledge of DE State assessment systems including DCAS, Smarter Balanced, MAT & NAEP; Understanding of use of data to produce improved student outcomes; Planning and organizational skills; Excellent communication and problem solving skills; Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and parents; Strong work ethic; Flexibility; Ability to be successful in a fast-paced start-up work environment; strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement.

Main responsibilities include:

- Teach students with disabilities in an inclusion setting.

- Plan programs of study that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

- Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.

- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and -in harmony with the goals—establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.

- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.

- Participate in IEP and other meetings, as appropriate.

- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

- Support DDLHS's vision to provide innovative design-thinking education to a diverse student body.

-Deliver rigorous instruction and academic support to students in DDLHS's project-based learning model.

-Co-plan with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units of study across curricula, including science, technology, engineering, media, and design.

-Sponsor clubs and extra-curriculars that bring joy to both teacher and student.

-Collaborate effectively with colleagues.

-Embrace professional learning opportunities.

-Attend meetings, activities and events and prepare exhibitions of student work.

-Use technology hardware and software for instruction and personal productivity.

-Support the development of high achievement programs (Advanced Placement/dual enrollment potential courses, National Honor Society & National Society of Student Councils)

- Connect with local businesses and community members for progam advisory and partnerships.

-Represent DDLHS with distinction in the local community, the state, and beyond.
