SCOPE
The Middle School Principal is the administrative and instructional leader of the school, and as such, assumes full responsibility for all aspects of the school program. The Middle School Principal reports to the Deputy Superintendent.
It is the primary responsibility of the Middle School Principal to promote the educational growth of each student and represent the school community in order to advocate on behalf of the district's education plan.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides leadership to enhance all aspects of student achievement and student-centered instruction.
  • Administers the school and its instructional program in all facets including regular and special areas of instruction.
  • Disseminates and implements policies and practices of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Monitors procedures, policies and facilities to ensure a safe and productive work environment for students and staff.
  • Coordinates the efforts of school staff in assessing student and program needs.
  • Coordinates the efforts of school staff in developing and implementing programs and procedures, which improve learning opportunities for students.
  • Participates in the selection of staff members in the school.
  • Prepares and administers the school budget.
  • Monitors student academic, social and behavioral growth.
  • Monitors the evaluation and planning process (PPT) to provide appropriate instruction for students with special needs.
  • Supervises and participates in the evaluation of all staff members assigned to the school.
  • Interprets and communicates the school's program to parents of the school and citizens of the community.
  • Monitors the maintenance of the physical plant and grounds.
  • Supervises the preparation and maintenance of records and reports as required by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
  • Coordinates the extra curricular activities.
  • Oversees the New England Association for Schools & Colleges Accreditation process.
  • Certifies graduates have met state and local matriculation standards.
  • Performs additional administrative duties as delegated by the Superintendent of Schools or his designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Connecticut Certification - Intermediate Administrator (092).
  • 3-5 years of exemplary administrative experience as a secondary Principal preferred.
  • Experience supporting a diverse student population required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school administration as well as the current practices and techniques involving secondary school education, including knowledge of data information systems, teacher evaluation and student assessments.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work well with other people.
  • Demonstrated up-to-date familiarity and practice in program administration, staff supervision and program evaluation.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high standards of ethics, honesty and integrity.
  • Demonstatrated capcity for improving parent engagement.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging parents and the ommunity in a meaningful relationship to improve teaching and learning.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • School leadership experience with demonstrated success in creating high performance among students and staff.
  • School leadership experience with demonstrated success in improving student achievement. Experience building effective building teams, along with exceptional coaching skills.
WORK YEAR
Currently 225 days as per the DSAA-Danbury Contract.

SALARY
Highly Competitive
Salary range is dependent on experience and Degree status $142,523 - $156,159 according to DSAA-Danbury contract which can be found at:
