Alumni Relations Manager

Position Summary:

New Visions for Public Schools seeks to expand its support of alumni so that they may have access to expanded options and effectively transition to the best fit post secondary pathway. New Visions also seeks to expand the school’s ability to engage its graduate to allow for the continuous refinement of school strategies and inform post secondary planning supports for current students and families. The Alumni Relations Managers will develop an organizational strategy for alumni planning and supports and will lead New Visions’ supports across its network of schools.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop and implement an organizational strategy to guide alumni relations, communication and supports across the network of New Visions schools that is informed by best practices.
  • Support schools to develop and implement strategies that facilitate communication with alumni including the maintenance of accurate alumni database records and alumni directory and the development of social media platforms to stay connected with alumni.
  • Support schools to design and implement alumni engagement activities that are appropriate for each school. These may include special events, committees, interactive student panels, reunions and celebrations.
  • Prioritize alumni supports for the successful transition of students in the AIM Transfer Network to college, job training and apprenticeship programs by collaborating with school staff to develop and implement systems for conducting case management, tracking of student progress, troubleshooting and linking participants with additional supports as necessary.
  • Pilot a New Visions Network Alumni Ambassador program to assist in planning of network-wide alumni events and a monthly alumni e-newsletter in service of fostering a highly connected and engaged community of alumni.
  • Collaborate with the New Visions communications team to develop an alumni focused website that highlights resources, opportunities and strategies for effective messaging and social media utilization.
  • Collaborate with the New Visions postsecondary team to implement career networking opportunities, job training and apprenticeship programs and transitional supports for alumni.
  • Cultivate relationships, connections and partnerships at college campuses, community based organizations and work based industry sectors to support students post secondary transitions.
  • Engage families and caretakers in supporting alumni engagement.


Required Competencies and Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating and engaging high school and young adults.
  • Knowledge of college and career readiness tenets and with linking students to workplace opportunities
  • Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with alumni, and other constituents.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple, simultaneous tasks with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of social media and communications technology.
  • Strong affinity for effective events management .
  • Comprehensive knowledge of database management.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Education:
  • Master's degree (MA, M.ED or MSW degree preferred) from an accredited college in education, public relations, school guidance or a closely related field
  • Four (4) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in alumni relations, leadership and/or external affairs (preferably at the high school or college level)
