QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED.

Associate Degree in related field or higher preferred but not required.

Formal training and experience with District devices.

Knowledge of local area network architecture including DHCP, WINS, and IP addressing.

Knowledge of local area network applications including groupware and virus protection.

Knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local area networks.

Strong knowledge of network operating systems, cross-platform knowledge is a plus.

Considerable knowledge of network protocols and diagnostic tools.

Experience in the training of others in the use of hardware and software.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.

Valid PA Driver's License required and must have the ability to report on time to various locations based on need.

Regular attendance is required.

Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Helpdesk Supervisor

SUPERVISES: Not applicable

JOB GOAL: In a collaborative and supportive manner, provide the technology support across all platforms required to ensure student success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Serve as a backup to the Helpdesk Supervisor in the event of his/her absence.

Train technical staff at the building level to follow proper operating procedures necessary to maintain the integrity of the District's IT infrastructure.

With the use of third party applications, prepare and deploy imaging and setup on new District devices as well as manage upgrades to hardware and software as required.

Manage and maintain an accurate accounting and reporting of District technology and inventory.

Provide Quality Assurance for new or reassigning devices to ensure the end-user has the required tools to perform his/her job.

Install or modify existing installations of networked computer hardware, software, and other components.

Participate in long term and short term technology planning.

Implement and enforce network technology standards.

Interact with District devices and network users to solve problems, perform interviews and other data gathering procedures to meet user needs.

Oversee the process of Audio / Visual installation projects.

Identify trends in user issues, hardware and software problems and facilitate solutions.

Maintain knowledge and skills through the attendance of classes, seminars, conferences, etc. and review professional literature to enhance knowledge of trends and developments related to network systems and district devices.

Assist in the setup and installation of District devices and attach devices to existing network, where applicable.

Perform troubleshooting functions on District devices and report findings to supervisor.

Assist with ensuring data and network integrity and security.

Perform hardware repairs and part replacements on District devices as necessary.

Document trouble-shooting procedures for District users to access in an FAQ and document internal IT procedures.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Work productively with Technology Department as part of a fluid, dynamic, and flexible cross-departmental team.

Bring technology issues to the forefront with a problem solving resolution.

Setup of network printers.

Assist in the development and instruction for programs related to technology staff skills.

Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year

EVALUATION: For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the current collective bargaining agreement.

For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to transport hardware from one location to another. Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and carrying. Repetitive movement of fingers and hands.

Sensory Demands:

Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screens. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone.

Temperament:

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people. Must be cooperative, congenial, and service oriented. Ability to work with limited supervision.

Ability to be flexible.

Mental Demands:

Ability to function in fast-paced and high-pressure work setting. Ability to function in multiple task environment.

High degree of patience and tolerance.

Ability to read and understand written communications that include technical terminology.

Environment:

Standard office/classroom work environment.

Travel from building to building with exposure to outside environment.
