Job Summary
The Talent Specialist works directly with employees beginning with their initial onboarding, through the end of their tenure with the School District. The Talent Specialist is responsible for the effective onboarding of all new hires and the efficient and seamless transition of current employees across various roles and classifications. The Talent Specialist also maintains employee records in accordance with District policies and procedure. The individual in this role must be extraordinarily organized and calm under pressure. S/he will be responsible for a significant volume of work.
About the Team
The Talent Support Team aims to support District leaders in their role to recruit, select, hire, onboard, develop, evaluate, promote, and retain high-quality staff members. The Talent Support Team also supports employees throughout their experience with the District. The team functions with a matrix model, in which individuals work to support their functional area leader and share responsibility for the talent needs of a selected network of schools and/or central offices with others outside of their areas of functional expertise. Individuals poised for success within this team are comfortable with ambiguity, are creative and flexible problem-solvers, and assume great responsibility in ensuring extraordinary results for their employees.
Essential Functions
  • Send welcome to the School District of Philadelphia communication & instructional emails to all hires once offer letters are signed and submitted.
  • Manage all aspects of onboarding sessions including sign up, facilitation and process management to ensure that new hires are cleared to work in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Routinely follow up with new hires regarding onboarding status.
  • Complete HRIS entry for all classifications of employees (new hires, reclassified employees and those employees receiving salary changes or status changes)
  • Maintain employee database, ensure that information is accurate and up-to-date, serve as the primary point of contact for processing system transactions
  • Manage employee records including file-batching and submitting required information to satisfy auditing requests.
  • Provide ongoing HR support for all employees (for items such as name changes, resignations, FMLA, payroll issues, site selection, special assignments and triage special issues.
  • Implement and manage the exit survey process.
  • Build positive and productive relationships with all employees.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in human resources, recruitment, and/or admissions/selection.
  • All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.

Additional Job Information: This is a non-represented position. The salary grade for this role is 4023.
