PURPOSE: Administers various employee benefit plans including, but not limited to, life, health, dental, and disability. Works with payroll and HR to coordinate changes in benefits related to employment changes and leaves of absence.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services

LOCATION: This position is located in the central administration building.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Main point of contact for benefit related employee inquiries.Provides benefits orientation to new hires.Completes monthly reporting on financial and enrollment activity.Processes benefit enrollments, changes and cancellations.Handles the annual benefits open enrollment from system set up to transfer of benefit enrollments and changes to insurance carriers.Continually develops and promotes the wellness program.Coordinates monthly payments to various vendors.Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.Assists in preparing materials and in presenting benefits plan changes to employees.Attends committee meetings when the topic of benefits is on the agenda.Analyzes employee utilization of current benefits and develops specific recommendations for review by management.Participates in benefits surveys and analyzes results to determine organization's market relationship.Complies with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.Maintain confidentiality at all times; handle sensitive and confidential documents, communications, incidents, etc., with discretion and in a conscientious mannerAssist the department administrator by coordinating the accurate and efficient dissemination of all necessary information to the staff, parents and school communityCommunicate information proactively and share information with appropriate people in a timely mannerPreparing correspondence, presentations and other materials for departmentPrepare departmental reports - may include Board Reports, State Reports, Federal Reports and Grant ApplicationsOther duties as assigned by the supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or relevant work experience may be substituted for degree1-3 years Benefit Administration experienceStrong problem solving, organizational and presentation skillsExcellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsFully proficient MS Office skills including Word and ExcelA motivated self-starter with strong attention to detailTeam orientation and Customer Service focusAbility to work with a minimum of supervisionAbility to organize, prioritize, and delegate work under time constraints and to be flexible in an environment of multiple tasks and changing prioritiesAbility to handle confidential information


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds of materials. It also requires use of computer, good vision, hearing, and speech for effective communication.

Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000
