Summary
Performs related duties in the absence of the regular classroom teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities by implementing the teacher's prepared lesson plans.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide instructions according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher or create lesson plans in absence of a prepared lesson.
- Uphold all District policies, rules and procedures to which all regular teachers are subject.
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times: in classroom, school site and in the community.
- Ability to present material using a variety of approaches, techniques, and media aids to stimulate interest, enthusiasm, and curiosity about subjects and events.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Teacher/Principal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- Minimum of 1 year teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
- Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
