GENERAL SUMMARY
This is a hands-on position where employee utilizes advance skill set to service building systems, control energy, and ensure a safe environment to support educational activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The above position is illustrative of the tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all -inclusive of every task or responsibility. The description does not constitute an employment agreement between the Springfield Public Schools and the employee and is subject to change by the Springfield Public Schools as the needs and requirements of the job change.
Plans and coordinates all preventative maintenance, necessary maintenance and repairs to the buildings mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing systems and equipment. This includes both performing the work, and coordinating with in-house trades and private contractors.
Responds to administrative needs.
Supervises employees.
Manages warranties on equipment and building systems.
Performs related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred. Minimum 3-5 years' experience. State licensure as an Electrician, HVAC or Plumber.
Appropriate education substitutions can be made.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Knowledge of all building mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, fire protection and security systems to ensure proper operations
Ability to act upon any conditions that are out of the ordinary
Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions
Skills in reading and interpreting blueprints
Ability to complete required safety classes and course training that pertain to specific job duties
CORE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Skill in utilizing interpersonal skills to relate and interact with a diverse population
Skill in detail oriented planning and able to set priorities, objectives, and meet deadlines
Ability to provide positive and effective customer service
Ability to adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
Ability to apply listening skills, work under pressure, address conflict and solve problems
Ability to read, analyze and interpret standard, policies, procedures and regulations
Ability to effectively present information using attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to exercise good judgment
Ability to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer keyboard, monitor, copies, scanners, and telephone
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires employee to be in outdoor environment. Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electric shock, vibration, fumes or airborne particles.
