Delaware Design-Lab High School is hiring faculty to serve additional enrollment for school-year 2017-2018.

Certification: Teacher candidate may qualify for interview if she or he holds a Valid and Current License or Certificate from Another State, i.e. a current full or permanent certificate or license issued by another state. Before being hired the candidate must transfer the valid and current license or certificate from another state to State of Delaware certification.

Required:

Bachelor's degree; Delaware Standard Certificate in the subject area at the secondary level; Highly Qualified Teacher status; Excellent attendance record in previous employment;

Exceptional professional references; Available for work on employment start date will be anticipated.

Preferred:

Dual certification in special education and subject; technology integration skills; experience teaching Advanced Placement

Successful candidate will demonstrate:

Knowledge of core standards and rigorous instruction; Knowledge of DE State assessment system including Smarter Balanced, MAT, PSAT, SAT; Understanding of use of data to produce improved student outcomes; Planning and organizational skills; Excellent communication and problem solving skills; Ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents; Strong work ethic; Flexibility; Ability to be successful in a fast-paced start-up work environment; Strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement; Entrepreneurial spirit; Mission-driven.

Main responsibilities of a Delaware Design-Lab High School Teacher include:

-Support the Delaware Design-Lab High Schools vision to provide innovative Design-thinking education to a diverse student body

-Deliver rigorous instruction and academic support to students in Delaware Design-Lab High School's project-based, hands-on learning model

-Co-plan with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units of study in Delaware Design-Lab High School's Science, Technical Engineering, Math and Media Design curriculum

-Develop lesson plans and units that ensure student mastery of state learning standards

-Prepare students for state and school assessments and use multiple measures to evaluate student progress (portfolios, projects, exhibitions, presentations, etc.)

-Coordinate and monitor student learning plans

-Design a classroom environment that fosters challenge, creativity, and innovation

-Implement effective classroom management to maximize student learning

-Sponsor student-centered clubs and extra-curricular activities

-Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, community, businesses, and higher education

-Embrace personal growth and professional learning opportunities

-Actively engage in meetings, activities, events, and exhibitions of student work

-Use technology hardware and software for instruction and personal productivity

-Support the development of high achievement programs (Advanced Placement, National Honor Society & National Merit Scholarship, etc.)

-Represent Delaware Design-Lab High School with distinction in the local community, the state, and beyond.
