Job Title: MCJROTC Marine Instructor

Primary Purpose

Administer and manage the National Defense Cadet Corps (NDCC) program according to laws,

regulations, policies, and principles in accordance with United States Marine Corps and District

guidelines.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

• High School Diploma or GED

• Retired United States Marine Corps Non-Commissioned Officer (Gunnery Sergeant through
Sergeant Major) or Warrant Officer

• Associate Degree from an accredited college or university (must obtain within five years of initial
hire)

• Training and Education Command (TECOM) Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Effective instructional/teaching knowledge and skills

• Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Instructional and Program Management
1. Assists the Senior Marine Instructor (SMI) to manage and administer the unit according to Marine

Corps and Training and Education Command (TECOM) Regulations, school rules, and policies.

2. Achieves desired learning goals by teaching prescribed subjects listed in Program of Instruction.
3. Utilizes MCJROTC CD Management Information System (CDMIS), MCJROTC Web Portal, and other

MCJROTC related technology.

4. Keeps school administrators advised on Marine Corps policies and regulations that affect the program.
5. Actively recruits students to join JROTC; maintains enrollment at a minimum of 100 cadets or 10% of

the student population (whichever is less).

6. Maintains proficiency in all subjects taught.
7. Modifies and improves instruction by remaining alert to new and alternative instructional methods and

motivational techniques.

8. Maintains arms and supply facilities in compliance with Marine Corps regulations.
9. Complies with Marine Corps and District safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring,

accompanying, or escorting students.

10. Prepares unit for formal inspections.
11. Counsels cadets on performance within the Corps of Cadets.
12. Conducts a public affairs program directed at school and community to enhance understanding of the

program.

13. Requisitions, maintains, accounts for, and secures all JROTC property issued to the school by the
Marine Corps and District.

14. Supervises the issuance and return of all property issued to students participating in the program.
15. Coordinates and integrates the program with other school activities and departments.

16. Participates in staff development activities at the District and Marine Corps levels to maintain or

improve job-related skills.

17. Maintains knowledge and compliance with specific JROTC guidance documents: Marine Corps

Regulations; TECOM Regulations; and local EPISD JROTC Regulations.
