Title: Executive Director, Data and Accountability

Position Summary:

The Executive Director of Data and Accountability builds a collaborative vision for optimizing the sharing and use of knowledge, data, and best practices across the organization through the categorization, codification, and dissemination of knowledge. The incumbent will develop systems to inform schools and the public about school performance and aid in ensuring that the District uses high-quality data to drive its decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees District and school accountability data strategy including development of short and long-term performance metrics and an annual data collection, analysis, and reporting calendarLeads the teams responsible for the development, delivery, and interpretation of reports on school and school system performance and student achievementManages compliance reporting needs by gathering data from schools and reporting to various state and federal agenciesOversees District and school accountability processes including development of short and long-term performance metrics, development and delivery of reports on school and school system performance, and working with staff at all levels to understand and use performance dataServes as subject matter expert with deep expertise on Georgia state accountability systemMaintains a strong working relationship to understand the leadership, vision, long range goals and objectives of the data warehouse, student information system and related systems and toolsPromotes the innovative use of existing technology to District data and business process owners to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiencyLeads a standing data strategy workgroup to
    • manage the District-wide data strategyensure proper alignment of technology capabilities with District goals and objectivesimprove data accuracy and data base naming conventions by developing and implementing standardized processes around data entry and reporting of student information
    Works closely with, collaborates with, and supports the assessment, research, and school governance teamsEnsures stakeholders at all levels of the organization have the knowledge and skills necessary to access data, analyze data, use data to identify gaps and challenges, and effectively present dataLeads stakeholder feedback survey process and analysisPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in quantitative/analytical discipline requiredMaster's Degree in statistics and/or quantitative field preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years administration/supervisory experience requiredMinimum of 3 additional years related experience requiredExperience in an educational institution preferred

Certification:
  • None required

Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbalAbility to multi-task and handle diverse high-pressure environmentsExperience effectively managing data systems and processesAbility to visually convey complex concepts using Microsoft PowerPoint, Tableau, and/or PowerBIExperience managing large, complex, projects and timelinesProficiency with statistical programming language (e.g. SAS, Stata, R, Python) is requiredStrong decision-making ability, budget experience, proven performance and resource management skillsAbility to effectively lead, organize, and direct the work of others


Salary Information:
Salary Range for 2017-2018

  • $88,737 - $104,729


Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule B-235, Executive Scale, Step 1 - Step 9.
