Responsibilities:
Workiing with students with special needs in the Developmental Learning Program (grades K-5). The Developmental Learning Program (DLP) services students with significant developmental delays/intellectual impairments. Modified curricula paralleling Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks are utilized.Typically, students receive direct instruction in content areas from special educators, while they frequently join general-education classes (art, music,lunch, etc.) for opportunities to develop relationships with typically developing peers. Many students in the program receive related services (speech/language,occupational therapy, physical therapy, etc.) as needed. Instruction may include activities of daily living and development of social skills.
Under the direction of a certified special educator and related service providers, the instructional assistant's responsibilities include:
- Implement behavior support plans
- Lifting for transfers and some assistance with toileting
- Follow a lesson plan to lead small group instruction
- Support students in the general education setting
- Frequent communication with classroom teacher
- Implement IEP accommodations and assist students with accessing the curriculum
- Operate technology to support student learning and communication.
30 hours per week, $20.1022 - $24.4394 per hour . Salary commensurate with experience.
