POSITION SUMMARY: The Custodial Manager is responsible for coordinating safe, clean and efficient facilities. This position ensures that schools and district facilities are suitable for use by complying with cleanliness and safety requirements. This position will conduct training(s) and observations of work and evaluations of custodial staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • Provides supervisory support to assigned staff to ensure they have necessary supplies and tools to complete work assignments. Obtains supplies and working equipment for use by custodians.Co-evaluates custodial staff technical skills with the designated site administratorParticipates and/or provides support to schools and district facilities in the selection(s) of custodial staff.Provides or coordinates training of new and existing custodians in areas such as, but not limited to, safe work techniques, timesaving methods, use and documentation of chemicals, customer service, and identification of safety concerns.Oversees and personally inspects sites before and after cleaning for safety and sanitation considerations. Documents safety concerns and instructs custodial teams to resolve or forwards requests to Facilities for skilled maintenance support.Uses appropriate positive interactions as well as structured discipline procedures for continued professional development and accountability.Conducts periodic safety meetings with custodial staff.Participates in preparing and monitoring of custodial budgets. Submits budget recommendations, monitors expenditures, prepares estimates for labor and material costs of unanticipated events and special assignments.Monitors Indoor Air Quality of all district facilities for health and safety.Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding the use of custodial products.Schedules and supervises projects such as, but not limited to, floor, heavy cleaning duties and summer cleaning.Reviews and evaluates custodial grievances and makes recommendations for the purpose of determining appropriate action/response.Reviews and interviews prospective substitute custodial candidates (e.g. screening, interviewing, etc.) for the purpose of making recommendations for hiring to the Executive Director of Support Services.Schedules and supervises projects such as, but not limited to, moving of school(s) and/or district facilities locations.Provides support to the Executive Director of Support Services for the purpose of meeting departmental goals and objectives.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITITES:
  • Supports District Administration, Principals, and other district staff with building needs.Selects, orders and maintains inventories of central store supplies.Takes initiative to find solutions and create more effective processes to continually improve the efficiency of the department.Obtain and maintain all documentation related to responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
AA degree in a related field
Three (3) year's experience in custodial leadership capacity; additional qualifying experience may substitute for education.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Successful experience in participating as a leader in focused small group work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Willingness to acquire licenses, endorsements or certifications pertaining to safety and health of schools, departments and buildings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 15 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor and outdoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May be exposure to angry or frustrated individuals.

WORK SCHEDULE
This is a twelve (12) month, 260-day position alternating between day and evenings.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to, and is evaluated by the Executive Director of Support Services. This position has direct support relationships with other department managers and building administrators.

REPRESENTATION
This position is non-represented

LEVEL OF COMPENSATION
Manager II level on the Non-Represented Salary Schedule
