SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Director Child and Family Services, the Early Childhood Program Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the Early Childhood Program and scope of work. The incumbent will be accountable to the Director of the WCSD Child and Family Services Department, and the Executive Director of Student Services. The Coordinator will provide support and assistance in implementing all required and optional elements of the Early Childhood Program. The Coordinator will meet the program goals and objectives, collect and support the evaluation of data, and attend coalition and supporting meetings and trainings. Performs related work as required.



EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will assist and provide support to the CFSD Director as needed. Duties include assisting the CFSD Director in interviews and hiring. Oversee training and orientation of all staff members; Provide staff supervision for Hug ELC; Assist and help to facilitate staff meetings and other PLC meetings; Knowledge of WiDA, CLASS, ECERS-3 and Brigance Early Childhood Assessments; Knowledge of TACSEI or similar Social Emotional resources for young children; Proficient in supporting developmentally appropriate curriculum with expert knowledge of the Nevada Pre-K Kindergarten Standards; Familiar with furnishings, resources and materials appropriate for young children; Be able to coach, mentor and or mitigate issues with colleagues as needed; Be able to work a flexible schedule with needed; Collaborate and work with school district employees; ESPs, teachers and administrators; Able to act as a substitute in pre-k classrooms; Adhere to district policies and procedures related to Human Resources, Risk Management, Food and Nutrition Services, Transportation, and Student Health Services; and Collaborate with other WCSD departments to provider professional development to the CFSD staff.

Responsible for organizing and implementation of Early Childhood programs; Provide support and including day-to-day oversight for Early Childhood program; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all personnel whose roles and relationships affect the development and implementation of program; Provide leadership for developing appropriate models for individual schools; Coordinate and consult on specific problems, receive training, and develop school-based programs; Collaborate with community and state partners; and Review and analyze evaluation data, and ensure project budget integrity.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:



Education: A master's degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, with a focus in early childhood education, and/or K-3 education.AND



Experience: A minimum of five (5) years successful elementary classroom teaching early childhood with experience training adults and/or education in adult learning principles.

Experience: Leadership and Supervisory experience.



Knowledge of : District mission and goals; goal setting, objectives, action steps, monitoring, and evaluation processes; state and federal legislation and regulations; management of Early Childhood programs; understanding of literacy content and pedagogy; literacy assessments and strategies; data-driven decision-making; the philosophy and implementation of the professional learning community concept; effective modeling, mentoring and coaching practices of teachers.



Skill at : Understanding data as it pertains to grant projects, organizing and scheduling training and presentations; communication and collaborating with site administrators, ,teachers, and paraprofessionals; evaluating, assessing data and revising the grant scope of work; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with selected sites; data entry, and writing reports; This person must have strong project management and planning skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Internet applications; Exception organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for early childhood.



Licenses/Certificates : Possession of a valid Nevada teaching license, with an Early Childhood Endorsement.

Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year.

Additional Job Information:
This is a Limited Term position ending June 2019. This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon continued funding. The hiring administrator may retain incumbent for the duration of the grant without re-advertising.
At the conclusion of this position, the incumbent will be eligible to participate in the exclusive transfer process and overage process in accordance with the certified negotiated agreement.

The Washoe County School District pays an additional legislatively-designated amount to the Public Employees Retirement System on behalf of the employee for retirement benefits. No retirement contribution is made by the employee.

New employees as of January 1, 2018 will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter. New employees will have $55.00 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $55 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.

Please be advised there is a 90-day waiting period for insurance benefits. Benefits are paid by employees at a prorated percent for those working less than full time.
