This is a full-time school year postion, including all Professional Development days.

JOB GOAL:

To implement the Success Mentors model with the goal of addressing attendance issues and reducing chronic absenteeism by working closely with school personnel to link mentees and mentors, engaging parents, supporting matches, overseeing data collection, facilitating match events and attending school and collaboration meetings.

SPECIFIC
DUTIES:

Attend required initial and ongoing training sessions to include 3 hours of pre-service training and 4 to 12 additional hours of annual training.

Work with the principal to select Success Mentors from the internal staff and oversee the selection/matching of mentees based on their attendance data.

In collaboration with Mass Mentoring Partnership, implement initial and ongoing Mentor and Mentee

Monitor daily attendance data for Success Mentors Schools to ensure accuracy in the district's electronic student information system.

Ensure that weekly mentor/mentee interactions are occurring and being documented. Provide support as needed.

Work with the Senior Administrator for Tutoring & Attendance to develop a network of community-based partners to support the students, their families and the efforts of the SSM program.

Work directly with parents to identify attendance issues and assist with student needs, participating in Home Visits as needed.

Plan and implement orientation and celebratory events for mentors, students and families.

Attend meetings and participate in conference calls weekly or as needed to review data, share best practices, and develop new

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree from an accredited college or university.

Ability to facilitate communication between mentors, mentees and families.

Strong written and verbal communication Ability to speak and write in Spanish is desirable.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Systems, data input, E-mail, and report preparation.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including attendance at evening meetings.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Access to reliable transportation. (mileage will be reimbursed)
