  • TYPE OF APPOINTMENT ISSUED: This position is included in the Educational Officers' Bargaining Unit and will be filled as a limited term probationary vice appointment.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: DATA PROCESSING SPECIALIST II
    Training: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in information and computer sciences, or a bachelor's degree in business administration with specialization in management information systems.
    Experience:Six (6) years of responsible professional work experience in electronic data processing systems analysis, and/or computer programming of which two (2) years shall have been in an education agency, program or system.
    Combined Education and Experience: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable, as determined by the Department. Substitutions can be considered for the requirement of experience in an education program, agency or system.
    Knowledge of: Computer and data systems; computer programming; electronic data processing and retrieval; information systems in organizations; database systems; statistical data analysis; information systems analysis and design; laws, rules, regulations and administrative procedures pertinent to the area or areas of assignment.
    Ability to:Perform the full range of information systems services in the area or areas of assignment; communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing; operate a wide range of computer systems, applications and other machines; maintain awareness of current and future developments in information technology system services.
  • A WRITTEN EXAMINATION/ASSIGNMENT MAY BE ADMINISTERED TO HELP DETERMINE POSSESSION OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES PORTIONS OF THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS.
  • Duties and Responsibilities : Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Director, Info Tech Project Management Branch (ITPMB), the Data Processing Specialist II:
    1. Establishes and implements project management processes for complex IT projects, those encompassing IT support to a major function where the projects have significant impact to the DOE (for instance, all support to the budget and finance operations). Assembles project plans, establishes project milestones, identifies resource requirements, and makes overall work assignments in coordination with team members and customers, using technical knowledge of the design and development process as well as skill in project management processes and principles. Monitors projects on a regular basis: reviews project quality and progress; makes adjustments to requirements or schedules; oversees reporting; and ensures project milestones are met. Adjusts project plans, schedules, resources, and requirements as needed; and elevates issues beyond his/her control that threaten timeliness of project. Coordinates with stakeholders, customers, and team members to assess and report on changes in scope, resource requirements, risk, and objectives of the project. Ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget, results are high quality, and meet customer expectations.
    2. Reviews projects being proposed for development, or makes recommendations regarding new IT projects. Provides advice regarding priorities, staffing and funding resource requirements, and project delivery timelines.
      Provides training to team members in project management.
    3. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • SALARY RANGE: EOSR-7, $93,564 to $132,447. Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. All others will be placed on the first step of $93,564.
  • WORK YEAR AND BENEFITS: This appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
