POSITION TITLE: Title I Innovation Academy Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Virginia licensed teacher.

  • Leadership experience (lead teacher, team leader etc.).

  • Curriculum development experience.

  • Ability to work with teams of teachers.

  • Participation in professional learning activities prior to commencement of the program.

  • Ability to use problem solving strategies, connect student learning with the wider themes in Innovation Academy, and create environments where students are provided with opportunities for an enriched and expanded curriculum.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.

  • Ability to model use of integrated technology to challenge and engage learners.

  • Successful completion of Cognitive Coaching and Adaptive Schools training.

  • Successful completion of gifted endorsement on state license and/or 40 gifted professional development points in Arlington Public Schools.

  • Successful completion of the Young Scholars course.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
ORIENTATION FOR ALL INNVOATION ACADEMY WILL BE REQUIRED

PROGRAM DATES: AUGUST 6-AUGUST 17, 2018

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with the Director of Elementary Education and Gifted Supervisor to plan for and manage the day-to-day operations of the Innovation Academy Program.



  • Provides leadership and professional learning to Academy staff.


  • Collaborates in development of Academy curriculum, resources and activities.



  • Arranges the distribution and collection of curricular materials and resources.



  • Correlates and disseminates teacher and parent information.



  • Manages day-to-day operation of Academy office and office staff.


  • Conducts staff meetings and classroom visits.



  • Supervises student arrival and dismissal process.


  • Completes Academy reports as required.


  • Provides leadership with technology integration.



EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with Title I students.


  • Experience teaching using Project Based Learning units including, but not exclusively, Project Clarion and/or Engineering is Elementary.


  • Experience with infusing critical and creative thinking strategies and/or curriculum written for gifted/advanced learners to teacher content.


  • Experience with Kagan Cooperative Learning strategies.

SALARY:
Summer School teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the Non-VRS equivalant rate.Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $32.50 per hour.
